Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award

I have entered it! I'm pretty excited about it and I have a really good feeling. I might not win, but I feel as if entering it was important somehow--that it will lead to something. I guess we'll see what pretty soon. February 13th is when it's announced who makes it to the next round. Fingers crossed.

As you can see...

I am completely terrible at keeping up with a blog. But, I think I started it far too early--my book was not as far along as I had hoped. It is now. In fact, I am putting it on Amazon as an eBook in the coming weeks. December is the official release month. So I have written it on a dead, meaningless blog, so it shall be.

I have some final editing to do, a few chapters to rewrite/finish, and then I will be done. I was worried about a cover for a VERY long time, but my wonderful girlfriend has been helping me with that the past couple weeks and we are close to finalizing a pretty good design.

I'm nearing the end of this thing. And it is scary.

I'm alive!...no really!

I was totally going to fill this blog up with some content, I had some ideas and stuff to say...then the holidays hit. I  became swamped with preparing for all of that and spending time with family. Once it started to slow down a bit I immediately jumped into writing full force on TCoT because...I'm going to enter a contest.

Amazon's Breakthrough Novel Award--to be exact. Details on that are here: http://www.amazon.com/Breakthrough-Novel-Award-Books/b?ie=UTF8&node=332264011T

Basically, the main prize is a $15,000 publishing contract with Penguin...and the contest starts on the 23rd. That means, I need to get the rest of TCoT typed up, get people to read it, edit it, and write a pitch. All before the 23rd. Piece of cake, right?

I doubt I can get TCoT in the super awesome state I want it to be, but maybe I can do enough to get the judges to dig it. But if I don't win? No big deal--I would run it through some more editing while preparing to publish it as an ebook. As far as I see it, no matter how this goes, I will still accomplish a great deal!

After all this work is done--I'll update more frequently. Promise!

Alright, got this thing looking less empty (and a lot more purple)!

I suppose I should post more now! I also started a Twitter account (@WiserThanThou) so between that and this, I've had a lot to wrap my head around. Twitter especially is overwhelming and I find myself almost afraid of talking on there because of how little I know. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it eventually! Until then, I'm just going to keep writing. Speaking of that, I'll make a post in the near future explaining more about The Choice of Twilight (which I almost always refer to as TCoT, just as a heads up), how it came to be, and what it is. I'll also get into the main inspiration for it--a video game, one you'll just have to wait and find out what it is!--and likely ramble on about my love for that particular story. And...that's really all I have planned to talk about. But since I have no readers right now I do not think my audience of Nobodies will mind too much.

If there is one thing I never thought I would do...

It would be creating a blog. Something always felt weird about them to me and, as a writer, counter productive. I don't talk much, all my thoughts build up inside of me and pour out as stories. If I had a place where I could rant for the world to see, my need to speak through stories would be so much smaller. I was wrong in that assumption.

It wasn't until recently, when I decided to self publish, that I realized a blog is a very important tool that I needed to utilize. And so, here we are! As mentioned, I'm a writer. My book is getting close to "finished" (as in, soon entering the final editing process) so I might as well get started filling this blog with content. Even though absolutely no one cares right now, they will one day!
